Class of 2026 Placement Test
In December 2021, St. Dominic High School will require all Class of 2026 applicants to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) through STS Testing to determine placement in Math, English and Science. The HSPT examines norm groups each year to provide annual comparisons to a national sample of eighth grade students. The student is only allowed to take this test once. The HSPT provides individual analysis reports for basic skills in Reading, Math and Language (per our prerequisite, Honors Biology is determined by a composite score in these three areas). This analysis and report will determine St. Dominic High School’s initial placement in freshman courses in addition to the students’ grades in the corresponding subjects per the Course Description Book prerequisites.
In the spring of 2022, students will still be allowed to take a Spanish Placement Test through our World Language Department, as well as a Math Placement Exam to determine the following initial placement changes:
Students placed in Algebra 1 from the HSPT will be able to take a Spring Placement Exam through our Math Department to test into Honors Algebra 1.
Students placed in Honors Algebra 1 from the HSPT will be able to take a Spring Placement Exam through our Math Department to test into Honors Geometry/Trig.
Mr. Markway will send the first round of confirmation dates on November 22nd-24th. You do not need to register more than once, please just wait to receive confirmation from him that week.
