Cheerleader Scholarship

The Miss Cheerleader of America organization promotes education through the distribution of scholarships.  The selection process was established to give cheerleaders the recognition, respect, and tuition assistance they deserve.  Pick up an application in the counseling center or go to www.misscheerleaderofamerica.com for more details regarding applications and deadlines.

 

Northwest Missouri State University is offering a $1,950 scholarship to two incoming first time freshman for the 2009-2010 school year.  You must major in one of the following:  Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Education, International Business, Office Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Broadcasting, Journalism, Agriculture, Marketing, Management, or Computer Science.  Selection of scholarship winners will be based on:

-a completed application (pick one up in the counseling center)

-one letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal, or counselor

-submit a 1 to 2 page essay about either why I want to pursue an education in that field, or why I want to pursue an education in that field at Northwest.

Apply by December 1, 2008.

 

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship is available to all high school seniors who have owned and operated their own business while in high school.

Apply online at  www.mckelveyfoundation.org . (Click on Entrepreneurial Scholarship section)

Qualifications are:

  -Be a 2009 high school graduate.

  -Attend a 4 year college within the 50  U.S. states.

  -Own and operate a genuine business (non-profits are eligible).

  -Have at least one paid employee.

Deadline is January 25, 2009.

 

The University of St. Thomas, Houston’s only Catholic University, is awarding scholarships to a select number of students who excel academically and demonstrate themselves to be a good fit for the Catholic mission.  Apply now for the

V.J. Guinan full-tuition scholarship.  Qualifications are:

  -A completed application and all  application materials - 2 but no more than 4 letters of recommendation from academic sources.

  -a 500 word essay (included in the application).

University of Michigan encourages all non-Michigan residents who are applying to their College of Engineering to apply for the Geisinger Scholarship.  This is a renewable award based on:

-maintaining a 3.0 cum gpa

-must be a full-time student in the

 College of Engineering

-must declare an engineering major

The full value of this award over eight semesters is $80,000.  To apply visit

Missouri Society of CPA’s is offering scholarships to students who are planning to pursue a career in accounting at a Missouri college/university.  Scholarships will be awarded based on academic

 

 

achievement, leadership potential, and a written “viewpoint”.  Details, rules and the entire application process are available at www.leap-forward.com

The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2009.

 

Northwest Missouri State University

is offering a $450 scholarship to two incoming freshman for the 2009-2010 school year.  They will be awarded to students who choose major in accounting.  To qualify you must:

-attend Northwest Missouri State

-Obtain a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, administrator, or counselor

-submit a 1 to 2 page essay on why you want to pursue a career in accounting.

See your counselor for an application.  You must apply by February 1, 2009.

 

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program was created to assist students with financial need who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree from a public institution within their state of residence.  To qualify you must:

  -Graduate from high school by August       

    2009 with a cumulative gpa of 2.75 or >

  -Enroll in a public 2 or 4 year school

    within your state of residence.

  -stay on track to complete a bachelor’s

    degree program.

Triple A Ranch Scholarship offers scholarships to first generation college students through the Greater St. Louis Community Foundation.   You may pick up an application in the Counseling Center.

Deadline for application is May 1, 2009.

OPPORTUNITIES

 

Tomorrow25 is a program sponsored by Bentley University in Massachusetts.  It is designed to recognize outstanding high school juniors.  Applicants are evaluated by a panel of judges who ultimately select 25 young leaders who will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to a conference held on the Bentley Campus.  If you are an interested junior visit www.bentley.edu/tomottow25 and see your counselor.

St Charles Community College is holding a BUSINESS AND SOCIAL

Missouri University of Science and Technology Chancellor’s Scholarship

To be considered for this $12,000 scholarship, students must complete the Chancellor’s Scholarship application and the Undergraduate Application by November 1, 2008.  Requirements include:  rank in the top 10% of your high school class or have 3.75 GPA or higher, score a 30 or higher on ACT, an interview, and an essay.   You may download an application at www.sfa@mst.edu  or pick up an application in the counseling center.

 

Fashion Scholarships

Full or partial scholarships are available to any of the Art Institutes schools in the areas of Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, and Retail Management.  Deadline for the scholarships is November 21, 2008.   For more details go to the website listed below.

St. Louis Notre Dame Club Scholarship Program

This Club offers scholarships to Notre Dame to St. Louis area high school seniors based on their academic and extracurricular record and financial need.  Deadline for Early Admission applications is Nov. 1, 2008.  Deadline for Regular Admission applications is Dec. 31, 2008.

AXA Achievement Scholarship (associated with the U.S. News and World Report) is offering one $10,000 scholarship to be given to one Missouri high school senior.  That student will be eligible to compete for additional awards worth up to $15,000 more.  National scholarship winners will be offered internships at AXA offices.

International Culinary Schools Scholarships

Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship

This is a competitive, one-time, non-renewable award of $2000 to be used in one academic year at an approved, participating college or university.  Awards are based on academic performance, quantity and quality of school and community activities, range of interests and activities employment experience, leadership abilities, interpersonal skills, and the desire to enter the educational field.    In addition, to qualify you must:

-          be a U.S. citizen

-          be a Missouri resident

-          rank in the top 15% of your class or score in the top 15 national percentile on the ACT or SAT test.

-          Submit a completed application no later than

      Feb. 15, 2009

-          answer an essay question

-          ask three people to complete recommendation forms.

 

Missouri Minority Teaching

Scholarship

This scholarship is a competitive, renewable $3,000 award for up to four years to be used at any approved, participating college or university.  Applicants must meet the following criteria:

-          be a Missouri resident

-          be African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American

-          be a high school senior who ranks in the top 25 % of your class, or scores in the top 25 national percentile on an ACT or SAT test

-          Submit a complete application no later than Feb. 15, 2009

-          Answer the essay question on page 2 of the application

-          Ask 3 people to complete the recommendation forms.

 

The Robert C. Byrd Scholarship

provides outstanding students with awards of up to $1,500 a year for their first 4 years of study at a four-year institution of higher learning.  This is a federally funded scholarship for students who show outstanding academic achievement and promise.  Eligibility requirements are:

-          graduate from high school in class of 2009

-          be accepted for enrollment at an institution of higher learning for the fall semester

-          score in the top 10 percentile on the ACT

-          all application and required documents must be postmarked by April 15, 2009.

 

 

 

Urban Flight and Rural Needs Scholarship

This program provides scholarships to eligible students who enter a teacher education program and make a commitment to teach as a condition of receiving such scholarship.  Emphasis is on academic performance and financial need.  Your application (with all required documents) must be postmarked by April 15, 2009.  Eligibility requirements are:

-          be a U.S. citizen

-          be a resident of Missouri

-          be a graduate of a Missouri high school and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

 

University of Missouri-Columbia College of Business

Scholarships are available for your perusal at www.business.missouri.edu .  Here you will find information on program details, award amounts, deadlines, and application procedures.  (Last year the Robert J. Trulaske Sr., College of Business at Mizzou awarded over $1.25 million dollars in scholarships.)
