Shadowing
Welcome to St. Dominic High School! We are proud of our school and hope you will consider us when making your high school decision. Shadowing is an important opportunity for potential students and parents to see if our school is a good fit. We allow shadowing on most normal school days where we do not have an early dismissal or late start. Students are encouraged to visit in the Spring of their 7th grade school year or Fall of their 8th grade school year. Due to our block schedule, most students should plan on spending the entire day with us to get an accurate feel for the learning environment. Shorter visits can be arranged.
So we can assure the best possible experience, we ask your cooperation in the following ways:
- Visits must be confirmed with the parent at least one week prior to the visit. (Due to some special events and holidays, we are unable to allow shadowing every day.)
- Plan to arrive at 8:00 and go to the main office. You will be met there and introduced to your host/Ambassador. We encourage picking up your student around 2:30 to avoid the end of the day traffic. Guests are welcome to stay until 3:00 dismissal, but we do need to know this ahead of time.
- Dress in solid color khaki pants and a solid color collared shirt (polo is fine).
- Stay with your host for the entire day, as your host is responsible for you. We will make you day as informative as possible; visiting at least 3 classes, be provided a tour of the school and facilities and be introduced to any coaches or club moderators you might have an interest it.
- You may bring a sack lunch with you or purchase items in the cafeteria; $4 to $5 will be plenty.
Our goal is for the student to be comfortable with their host. We have trained ambassadors to entertain our guests. Potential students may already know someone at the school they are comfortable with as well. All hosts must be approved prior to the visit. Due to the nature of the material covered, 7th and 8th grade students may only shadow Freshman or Sophomore students at St. Dominic.
Here is the Shadowing/Student Visit Information Form in a PDF file that should be submitted one week prior to any visit. This form can be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to St. Dominic High School. You will receive a phone call or e-mail confirming your visit. Here is the Shadowing/Student Visit Information Form in Word format.
School Tours
Would you like to tour our campus? We give personal tours to students and their families during school hours all year round. In addition, our annual Open House, usually held the first weekend of November, is a great opportunity to visit our campus, meet our students and faculty, and to ask questions.
We want to make your visit here as informative and enjoyable as possible. If you have any questions please call Bernie Naumann at (636)240-8303, ext. 235 or e-mail him at bnaumann@stdominichs.org.
Thank you, we look forward to meeting you.
