Learning Consultant The Learning Consultant acts as a resource to teachers, parents, administrators, and students regarding services for students with mild to moderate special needs. Responsibilities include reviewing diagnostic and evaluation reports, developing student learning profiles and assisting with the development of service plans through the public school district, meeting with teachers, students, parents, and communicating with tutors and other specialists who work with the students outside the classroom. The Learning Consultant is also involved in admitting and registering of students with special needs and in coordinating adjustments for standardized tests, as well as serving as an advocate for students and parents. The Archdiocese of St. Louis requires that documentation of a student’s special need be included in a student’s school file. Documentation is also required in order for adjustments to be provided on standardized tests, including college entrance exams (i.e., ACT). Please view the specifics of the required documentation: Documentation Requirements.
