, The St. Dominic faculty
and staff include 54 educators including an Archdiocesan priest, two religious
sisters, 24 lay men and 27 lay women. 72 % of faculty has advanced degrees. Student: Professional
Staff ratio is 13: 1 Student: Teacher ratio is 16: 1 Median class size is
26. Students are 343 male and 387 female. Professional staff is 25 male and 29 female. 50% of students are
on fall sports roster Religious Education Religious Education at SDHS focuses, not only on four years of religion
classes, but also on experiences that include daily prayer, the opportunity
for daily Mass, monthly all-school Mass, an overnight retreat for all juniors,
days of prayer for all seniors, sophomores and freshmen, Penance Services in
Advent and Lent, and at least 100 hours of community service outside of school. Honors Program Honors and college credit classes are available at St. Dominic. College
credit is available in cooperation with St. Louis University, the University
of Missouri-St. Louis, and the St. Charles County Community College. Advanced
Placement Calculus and Statistics are offered currently, with others to be
added. Independent Study is an option for highly motivated students with special
interests in science. Vocational Program Through the Lewis & Clark Career Center, a variety of one and
two-year vocational programs is available to students residing in St. Charles
County. Guidance Counselors:
Learning Consultant The Learning Consultant acts as a resource to teachers, parents, administrators, and students regarding services for students with mild to moderate special needs. Responsibilities include reviewing diagnostic and evaluation reports, developing student learning profiles and assisting with the development of service plans through the public school district, meeting with teachers, students, parents, and communicating with tutors and other specialists who work with the students outside the classroom. The Learning Consultant is also involved in admitting and registering of students with special needs and in coordinating adjustments for standardized tests, as well as serving as an advocate for students and parents. Graduation Requirements Religion 4 credits,
English 4 credits, Social Studies 3 credits, . Mathematics 2 credits,
Science 2 credits, Practical Arts 1 credit, Fine Arts 1 credit, Physical Ed 1
credit. The rest of the 28 credits may be electives. In addition, students must maintain a satisfactory attendance record" meet all financial obligations, complete 100 hours of approved Christian service, and make an overnight retreat during their junior year. Grading Scale
